How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEND Family Support Worker

    TeacherActive is working with a welcoming and inclusive educational setting in Handsworth to recruit an experienced SEND Family Support Worker for a part-time role of 22.5 hours per week.

    This is primarily a parent and carer-focused position, supporting families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will manage their own caseload and provide practical advice and support across areas including Education, Health, Care and Benefits.

    The role has a strong focus on casework, reporting and recording, so you must be organised, confident maintaining accurate records and able to work towards agreed outcomes with families.

    Candidate Requirements

    The ideal candidate will:

    Ideally hold a Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification, or above.

    Have experience working within Early Years, Childcare, Family Support or a related setting.

    Have experience supporting parents/carers and families of children with SEND.

    Understand child development and the needs of children with SEND.

    Have knowledge of Education, Health and Care support available to families.

    Have experience managing an individual caseload.

    Be confident completing case notes, reports and electronic records.

    Have experience delivering or supporting parenting programmes.

    Understand positive behaviour management strategies.

    Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Be organised, compassionate and able to maintain professional boundaries.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a SEND Family Support Worker, you will:

    Manage your own caseload of parents, carers and families.

    Provide practical and emotional support to families of children with SEND.

    Support families to access appropriate Education, Health and Care services.

    Provide guidance around relevant benefits and available support.

    Help parents and carers understand and navigate appropriate services.

    Deliver parenting programmes and provide positive behaviour management strategies.

    Agree actions and outcomes with families and monitor progress.

    Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records.

    Ensure reporting and recording systems remain fully updated.

    Produce reports on interventions, progress and outcomes.

    Make appropriate referrals when additional support is required.

    Liaise with education, Early Years, SEND, health and other professionals.

    Contribute to multi-agency meetings where required.

    Follow safeguarding, confidentiality and information-sharing procedures.

    Casework & Recording

    This position has a strong emphasis on casework, reporting and recording.

    You will be expected to take ownership of your caseload, maintain detailed records and ensure interactions, actions and outcomes are recorded accurately and promptly.

    You will work closely with parents and carers to identify their needs, agree appropriate support and monitor progress towards agreed outcomes. Strong organisation, written communication and time management skills are therefore essential.

    Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS through TeacherActive.

    Complete TeacherActive's safeguarding and compliance process.
