How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic
    Location: Glasgow
    Salary: £34,000 Basic, depending on qualifications
    OTE: Up to £44,000
    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    The Role
    As an MOT Tester, you will play a key role in the workshop, carrying out MOT tests, vehicle health checks, servicing and repairs while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and customer service.
    Your responsibilities will include:
    ·Carrying out MOT tests in line with DVSA requirements.
    ·Completing vehicle health checks using the latest technology.
    ·Conducting pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles.
    ·Carrying out servicing and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
    ·Inspecting vehicle lights, tyres and mechanical and electrical components.
    ·Identifying additional work and reporting recommendations.
    ·Completing minor repairs and fitting accessories where required.
    ·Conducting road tests to ensure repairs have been completed successfully.
    ·Maintaining accurate job cards and completing all relevant paperwork.
     
    About You
    ·Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience.
    ·A valid MOT Tester licence.
    ·Previous experience as an MOT Tester, Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Mechanic.
    ·Experience working in a dealership or independent garage.
    ·A full and valid UK driving licence.
    ·Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
    ·A self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    ·A willingness to develop your technical skills and undertake further training.
