How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant - Guildford
Long-Term, Permanent and Supply Positions Available | Immediate Start
    Location: Guildford, Surrey
Salary: £110-£125 per day, dependent on experience

We are delighted to announce a number of exciting opportunities for experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a close-knit and highly specialist school community in Guildford. This is a school with a genuine commitment to the wellbeing and development of every pupil and every member of staff, a place where consistency, trust and relationships are at the heart of everything that happens.

Whether you are looking for a permanent position, a long-term placement or regular supply work, we are keen to hear from candidates who genuinely understand specialist education and are comfortable working as part of a close, collaborative classroom team alongside teachers, therapists and other specialists.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced SEN TAs who want to build a meaningful, ongoing relationship with a specialist schoo, contributing to the progress and wellbeing of pupils aged 5-18 with autism, complex needs, communication needs and behaviours that challenge, in an environment where your consistency and commitment genuinely makes a difference.

    About the Role:

You will work as part of a dedicated classroom team within a specialist SEN school, supporting pupils aged 5-18 with a range of complex needs including autism, communication difficulties and behaviours that challenge. Depending on your availability and experience, positions are available on a permanent, long-term or regular supply basis, with the school particularly keen to build a reliable supply bank of consistent, familiar staff rather than receiving different faces each day.

You will work closely with the class teacher, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and the wider MDT to deliver tailored, high quality support to every pupil in your care, helping them to access learning, develop communication and build greater independence. Staff wellbeing is genuinely prioritised here, you will be supported, valued and given the tools you need to do your best work.

    Key Responsibilities:

    - Provide 1:1, small group and whole class support to pupils aged 5-18 with autism, complex needs, communication needs and behaviours that challenge
    - Work closely with the class teacher and wider MDT including SLTs, OTs and Physiotherapists to implement EHCPs and individual support plans
    - Use a range of specialist strategies and communication approaches appropriate to each pupil including AAC where relevant
    - Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural regulation alongside their academic engagement
    - Maintain a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment
    - Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils, families and staff, particularly important for supply staff joining the school's regular supply bank
    - Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO
    - Support pupils with personal care and physical needs where required, with dignity and sensitivity
    - Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school-specific policies at all times

    About You:

    - Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a specialist or mainstream setting - essential
    - Experience supporting pupils with autism, complex needs, communication needs and/or behaviours that challenge - essential
    - Genuinely comfortable working as part of a close, collaborative classroom team under the direction of the class teacher and alongside a wider MDT
    - Familiarity with AAC systems and communication approaches - desirable
    - Experience with personal care and physical needs - desirable
    - A calm, patient and consistent approach with a genuine passion for specialist education
    - Reliable, punctual and committed, particularly important for candidates joining the school's regular supply bank
    - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    - Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential
    - Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils
