How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEO Specialist
London, W11 (with hybrid working after probation)

    About Us

We’re Big Group, an award-winning, independent creative marketing agency who apply bigger thinking to everything we do. For over 30 years, we’ve been helping our clients create memorable EXPERIENCES, drive business results to amplify PERFORMANCE, innovate with technology to drive TRANSFORMATION, and nurture and connect brands with consumers to build genuine COMMUNITIES.

At Big Group, we value our employees, so have given them ownership of the company. In November 2022, we became an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT), meaning that on passing probation, every single employee owns a share of the company. This will, in turn, give employees more of a sense of belonging and transparency around the business and future plans. It also allows employees to potentially benefit financially from the success of the business.

We are now looking for an SEO Specialist to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working Monday - Friday, 9am - 5.30pm, with occasional evening work.

    The Benefits

    - Salary of £34,000 - £39,000 per annum DOE
    - 23 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
    - Up to five paid days of charity work per year
    - Hybrid working
    - Health cashback scheme
    - Life cover
    - Pension scheme
    - Profit share
    - Gym discounts
    - Social events throughout the year
    - A welcoming and friendly office environment
    - Home & Tech scheme savings
    - Salary sacrifice benefits, including cycle to work scheme, workplace nursery, and electric vehicle scheme

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEO professional with strong technical expertise and a proven track record of leading multi-client strategies to join our award-winning organisation.

You’ll have the chance to take ownership of varied SEO campaigns, broadening your expertise while staying at the forefront of a rapidly evolving discipline.

What’s more, you’ll join an employee-owned agency where, after probation, you’ll have a genuine stake in the business and the potential to benefit financially from its success.

Alongside hybrid working, profit share, health and lifestyle benefits and regular social events, you’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative environment with a strong sense of ownership.

So, if you’re ready to lead ambitious SEO work and share in the success of the agency you help grow, read on and apply today.

    The Role

As an SEO Specialist, you will develop and deliver SEO strategies that drive organic visibility, traffic and revenue across a diverse portfolio of B2B, B2C and eCommerce clients.

Taking ownership of multiple SEO campaigns, you will identify growth opportunities through keyword, search intent, competitor and content analysis, translating insights into clear strategies and recommendations.

You will lead technical SEO activity, conducting audits and resolving issues that affect website performance while supporting migrations, redesigns and other large-scale projects. Working with content teams, you will also optimise content and authority strategies and adapt approaches for GEO, AEO and AI-driven search.

    Additionally, you will:

    -  Analyse SEO performance, report on results and act as a strategic advisor to clients
    - Develop and oversee link acquisition and authority-building initiatives
    - Support new business pitches with SEO research and expertise
    - Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities

    About You

To be considered as an SEO Specialist, you will need:

    - A minimum of five years’ experience in SEO, including developing and leading SEO projects/strategies across multiple clients and sectors
    - Experience conducting technical SEO audits and implementing recommendations
    - Experience analysing data and translating findings into actionable recommendations
    - Experience contributing to new business pitches and strategic growth initiatives
    - An understanding of website SEO health and how to fix technical issues
    - Strong knowledge of technical, on-page, off-page, local and content-led SEO
    - A strong understanding of website migrations, redirects, site architecture, indexation and Core Web Vitals
    - To be highly analytical and data-driven with strong problem-solving skills
    - Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Other organisations may call this role SEO Executive, SEO Manager, SEO Consultant, SEO Strategist, SEO Analyst, Search Engine Optimisation Specialist, Search Engine Optimisation Executive, Technical SEO Specialist, or SEO & Content Specialist.
