Homemove Officer
Location: Haywards Heath (Hybrid Working Available)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Contract: 3 months
Salary: £18 per hour
We are currently recruiting for a Homemove Officer on behalf of our client based in Haywards Heath. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional or customer service candidate looking to develop their career within a busy and rewarding housing environment.
The Role
Working as part of a dedicated housing team, you will be responsible for supporting the allocation of social and supported housing, assessing housing applications, and providing advice and guidance to residents, applicants, and partner agencies. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about helping those in housing need.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess housing applications and determine housing need in line with relevant policies and procedures.
* Carry out verification checks including identity, address, and credit reference checks to prevent fraud and ensure appropriate housing nominations.
* Respond to day-to-day enquiries relating to housing allocations and housing assessments.
* Provide specialist written and verbal advice to applicants and partner organisations.
* Maintain accurate records and case notes using housing management systems.
* Monitor and understand local housing demand, including emergency housing needs and specialist accommodation requirements.
* Work closely with internal departments and external agencies to support applicants and contribute to homelessness prevention initiatives.
* Ensure excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
About You
We are looking for a resilient and organised individual who can manage a varied workload and work effectively to tight deadlines.
You will have:
* Previous experience within a customer-facing environment.
* Experience working with vulnerable individuals or clients with complex needs.
* Experience within housing services, homelessness, allocations, tenancy support, or a similar field.
* Strong administrative and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* The ability to remain calm under pressure and respond positively to changing priorities.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Essential Requirements
* Eligibility to undertake a DBS check.
* Ability to attend the Haywards Heath office on Tuesdays and Thursdays as part of a hybrid working arrangement.
