How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role Purpose

    The Bitumen Logistics Specialist serves as the operational focal point for day-to-day bitumen transport operations within Tarmac's logistics function. The role is responsible for coordinating routine logistics activities, acting as the primary point of contact for transport providers and asphalt plants, and ensuring a reliable and efficient delivery service to customers.

    The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate operational and financial records, reconciling supplier purchases and haulage invoices, and producing reporting and analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making. Working closely with the Bitumen Logistics Manager, Terminal Operations & Technical Lead, Finance teams, transport providers, and asphalt plant operations, the role contributes to continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and business performance across the bitumen logistics network.

    Key Accountabilities

    In this role you will:

    Act as the primary operational contact for transport providers, managing day-to-day logistics issues, coordinating resolutions, and escalating complex matters where appropriate.
    Liaise with Tarmac asphalt plants regarding orders, delivery schedules, and operational requirements to ensure a consistent and reliable customer service experience.
    Accurately process and enter daily delivery ticket information, validating loaded and delivered quantities and ensuring alignment with supplier invoicing.
    Reconcile monthly inland bitumen purchases from third-party suppliers and analyse haulage invoices, ensuring accurate charging, invoice matching, and timely payment.
    Monitor logistics volumes against budget and forecast, identify variances, and provide analysis to support financial and operational performance reviews.
    Produce regular performance reports covering logistics activity, costs, and volumes, highlighting trends, risks, exceptions, and improvement opportunities.
    Support the Bitumen Logistics Manager with management information and business insight for monthly and quarterly performance reviews.
    Identify and support opportunities to simplify processes, improve efficiency, and assist with the implementation of new systems, operating procedures, and haulage contract transitions.
    Build and maintain strong working relationships with transport providers, asphalt plants, finance teams, and other internal stakeholders.
    Communicate proactively regarding operational issues, service disruptions, delays, and changes to ensure effective stakeholder management.
    Provide operational support and holiday cover where required to ensure continuity of service.Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Essential

    Experience in logistics, transport coordination, supply chain administration, or a related operational environment.
    Experience of invoice processing, financial reconciliation, and budget or forecast monitoring.
    Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate operational records and produce detailed management information and reports.
    Experience building effective working relationships with suppliers, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
    Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, with the capability to analyse and interpret operational data.
    Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
    Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Desirable

    Experience within the construction materials, manufacturing, aggregates, asphalt, or wider distribution sectors.
    Knowledge of transport, logistics, or supply chain management processes.
    Experience using logistics management systems, ERP platforms, or transport planning software.
    Experience supporting operational improvement initiatives or system implementations.
