How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Democratic & Civic Services Officer
A varied role at the heart of the Council, supporting democratic services, governance, the Mayor and Bridgnorth's civic life.

    About Us:
Bridgnorth is an historic market town on the banks of the River Severn. The town currently has a population of 12,000 and acts as a centre for the rural area of eastern Shropshire.

It has strong links with the nearby West Midlands conurbation and is a popular leisure destination. It is likely that there will be significant population growth in the wider area over the next decade.

We are looking for a Democratic & Civic Services Officer to provide high-quality democratic, civic, governance and administrative support to the Town Council, ensuring that Council and Committee meetings, civic functions, Mayoral engagements and related governance processes are delivered professionally, accurately and in accordance with statutory requirements and Council procedures

Some main duties of the role includes:

    * Act as Council Committee Secretary supporting the Town Clerk in coordinating Council, Committee, Sub-Committee and Working Group meetings, including scheduling, agenda planning and preparation of the annual meetings calendar.

    * Attend meetings as required, including evening meetings, to take accurate minutes, record decisions and support follow-up with officers and councillors

    * Provide professional PA and administrative support to the Town Clerk and Mayor, including diary management, civic engagements, invitations, appointments, correspondence and community events.

    * Act as Lead Officer for the Council’s Planning Committee or planning-related meetings, including agenda preparation, collation of planning documents, minute taking, action tracking and publication of meeting information

    * Work with colleagues responsible for communications and engagement to promote civic and democratic information appropriately

The successful candidate will have the following:

    * 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent experience.

    * Ability to produce clear, accurate minutes, correspondence, reports and written records.

    * Administrative experience, including preparing high-quality documents, maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information

    * Understanding of transparent, accurate and lawful administration in a public sector, Council or committee environment.

    Closing date: 5pm, Wednesday 28th October 2026.

If you are Interested? We would love to hear from you, so please apply today!
