Designated Lead (Looked After Children & Care Leavers)

Location: Rotherham & Worksop (multi-site role)
Salary: £29,455 per annum + benefits
Hours: 37 hours per week, full year
Contract: Temporary

About the Role

Our client, a respected education and training provider, is seeking a dedicated Designated Lead to champion the educational achievement, wellbeing and progression of care-experienced learners.

This is a rewarding opportunity to act as the key point of contact for Looked After Children, Care Leavers, Previously Looked After Children and Young Carers, ensuring they receive the support needed to thrive in education and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on statutory responsibilities relating to care-experienced learners
• Coordinate and chair ePEP meetings, ensuring compliance with required deadlines
• Monitor attendance, progress, retention and learner outcomes
• Deliver early intervention and targeted support strategies
• Build strong partnerships with Local Authorities, Virtual Schools and external agencies
• Produce reports on learner performance, engagement and support needs
• Provide advice on trauma-informed approaches and inclusive practice
• Offer mentoring, advocacy and pastoral support to vulnerable learners
• Support progression into employment, apprenticeships, training or higher education
• Contribute to continuous improvement within student support services

About You

• Experience supporting vulnerable young people, including Looked After Children and Care Leavers
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and case management experience
• Excellent communication and partnership-building skills
• Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)
• Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Social Studies or similar
• Teaching qualification at Level 3 or above would be advantageous
