How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role Summary

    The Temporary Medical Doctor supports the delivery of clinical research studies at the site by providing medical oversight, participant assessments, safety monitoring, and protocol compliance activities. This is a fixed-term position suitable for a GMC-licensed physician with post-qualification clinical experience who wishes to gain or further develop experience in clinical research.

    Working as part of a multidisciplinary research team, the Temporary Medical Doctor collaborates closely with the Principal Investigator, site leadership, sponsors, and research staff to ensure the safety, rights, wellbeing, and confidentiality of clinical trial participants while maintaining compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), study protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.

    This position is offered on a temporary basis for a defined period, with employment ending at the conclusion of the agreed assignment unless otherwise extended.

    Education and Experience

    Essential

    • Qualified Medical Doctor (MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent recognised medical degree).
    • Full and unrestricted licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a patient-facing medical role.
    • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
    • Strong understanding of medical ethics and patient confidentiality.

    Desirable

    • Previous experience in clinical research, whether as a Research Physician, Sub-Investigator, Principal Investigator, or treating physician supporting clinical studies.
    • Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
    • Experience in primary care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, acute medicine, or another relevant clinical specialty.
    • Experience reviewing clinical trial protocols or participating in clinical research studies.
    • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
