How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Social Media & Content Creator

    NCM Auctions | The Surplus Strategy People™ Finningley, Doncaster | Full-time | On-site £26,000–£32,000 DOE

We're growing fast. We want someone to help us show it.

NCM Auctions helps businesses turn commercial surplus into value.

When companies close sites, relocate, upgrade equipment or simply have assets they no longer need, we help them find a new home through auction and other routes to market.

That could mean selling a single piece of specialist equipment one day and clearing an entire factory, warehouse, gym or commercial site the next.

It's a much bigger, and far more interesting, world than it sounds. And we don't think anyone is telling the story of it particularly well.

    That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Social Media & Content Creator who can take what's happening across the business every day and turn it into content people actually want to watch, share and engage with.

This isn't a role where you'll just be handed a content calendar and asked to schedule posts.

We want you to help build the content engine and become the creative force behind our brand.

    What you'll be doing

You'll own the day-to-day creation of content across NCM's social channels, including LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

    You'll:

    * Plan, shoot and edit engaging short-form video content

    * Get out into the business and find the stories worth telling

    * Capture auction days, site visits, unusual assets, warehouse activity, behind-the-scenes moments, customer stories and the people behind NCM

    * Turn one great idea or piece of footage into multiple pieces of platform-specific content

    * Develop recurring content formats and series that people begin to recognise NCM for

    * Spot relevant trends early and find clever ways to make them work for a B2B brand

    * Write strong hooks, captions and scripts that make people stop scrolling

    * Build and manage a consistent content calendar

    * Grow our audience, reach, engagement and brand awareness

    * Track what's working and use the data to make the next piece of content better

    * Support wider marketing activity including campaigns, email, website content and major auction launches

    * Help bring ideas to the table about how we can make NCM one of the most recognisable brands in our industry

You'll have access to some genuinely unusual content.

Factories. Machinery. Vehicles. Commercial equipment. Huge sites. Behind-the-scenes auction activity. Businesses going through major change. Assets worth anything from £50 to hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Your job is to find the story in it.

    Who we're looking for

First and foremost, you're a content creator.

You understand why someone stops scrolling, why the first three seconds matter and why technically perfect content isn't always the content that performs best.

    We're looking for someone who:

    * Has a strong portfolio of social content they've personally created

    * Can confidently film and edit short-form video from start to finish

    * Understands Reels, TikTok, Shorts and LinkedIn content

    * Has a natural eye for hooks, storytelling, pacing and editing

    * Is comfortable approaching people and getting them involved in content

    * Is confident behind the camera and happy appearing in front of it when needed

    * Can take a rough idea and turn it into something worth publishing

    * Understands that consistency matters as much as creativity

    * Takes ownership rather than waiting for a detailed brief

    * Is curious, commercially aware and full of ideas

    * Isn't afraid to experiment, test things and occasionally create something that doesn't work

Experience creating B2B content is useful, but it's not essential.

We'd rather see someone with a brilliant portfolio, strong instincts and bags of potential than someone with five years of marketing experience who doesn't actually create.

    AI-first is non-negotiable

We're building NCM as an AI-driven business, and we want someone who is excited by that rather than intimidated by it.

You should already be using AI, or be obsessed with learning how to use it, to make yourself faster and more creative.

That could include using AI for:

    Ideas → research → hooks → scripts → editing → repurposing → captions → thumbnails → analytics → scheduling.

We don't want AI to replace your creativity.

We want it to multiply it.

You'll be encouraged to experiment with new tools, automate repetitive work and continually find smarter ways of producing better content.

    What success looks like

We're not hiring someone simply to "keep the socials active."

Within your first year, we want to see:

    * A recognisable NCM content style and voice

    * Consistent, high-quality content going out every week

    * Significant growth in reach, engagement and followers

    * Regular content that performs well beyond our existing audience

    * Stronger visibility for NCM and the people behind the business

    * Content becoming a genuine source of awareness, enquiries and commercial opportunities

    * A bank of repeatable formats and ideas that we can scale as the company grows

Ultimately, we want people in our industry to know who NCM is before we've ever spoken to them.

    Why join NCM?

Build something from the ground up

You won't be joining a huge marketing department as employee number 47.

You'll have the freedom to shape what NCM looks and sounds like online and see the direct impact of your work.

An unusual playground for a creator

There aren't many content roles where you could be filming inside a factory one day, capturing an auction the next and discovering a completely bizarre piece of equipment in the warehouse the day after.

    There's always something happening.

    We're growing

We're an ambitious, founder-led company with plans to scale significantly over the next few years.

If you're good, there is plenty of room for this role to grow with you.

    You'll have freedom

We care about results, ideas and momentum.

If you've got an idea you think will work, we'll want to hear it — and we'll encourage you to test it.

You'll be part of the team

We're a close-knit team based at our Finningley office. You'll work directly with people across the business rather than sitting several layers away from what's actually happening.

And yes — we have a gym at the office too.

    A few practical bits

Location: Finningley, Doncaster Hours: Full-time Working style: Primarily on-site — this is a hands-on content role, so you need to be where the action is Salary: £26,000–£32,000 depending on experience

There will occasionally be travel to auction sites and client locations to capture content, so a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required would be advantageous.

    How to apply

We're interested in what you've made, not just what's written on your CV.

    Please send us:

    1. Your CV

    2. Links to your best social/content work

    3. A short note telling us why you think you'd be great for NCM

Bonus points: send us a short video introducing yourself and telling us what you'd do with the NCM brand if we gave you the keys to our social channels.

Your portfolio doesn't need to be corporate. Personal projects, TikTok accounts, freelance work, university projects and content you've created for yourself all count.

Show us what you can do.

Come and help us build a business worth watching
