How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Site Engineer – Home Every Night

An opportunity has arisen with one of Scotland’s most established civil engineering contractors, working on a range of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland.

    The standout benefit?

    You’ll be home every night.

There’s no requirement to regularly work away from home, meaning you can enjoy the challenge and variety of major civil engineering projects while still being home for your family, your evenings and your weekends.

    The Role

As Site Engineer, you’ll play an important role in the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, working closely with the Site Management and wider project teams.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Setting out and surveying civil engineering works
    Checking levels, dimensions and specifications
    Reading and interpreting construction drawings
Carrying out site measurements and maintaining accurate records
Supporting the Site Manager with the delivery of projects
Monitoring works against drawings and specifications
Liaising with subcontractors and site teams
Ensuring works are delivered accurately and to the required standards
Supporting health, safety and environmental requirements on site
     What They’re Looking For

    The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure
    A relevant engineering qualification
    Strong setting-out and surveying experience
Good knowledge of construction drawings and specifications
    Excellent attention to detail
    Strong communication and organisational skills
A practical approach to problem solving
    A full UK driving licence
    Why Consider the Opportunity?

Home every night – no regular working away or living out of hotels.

Localised project work – enjoy a varied workload while maintaining a better work-life balance.

Established contractor – join a highly experienced and well-established civil engineering business.

Career progression – genuine opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career.

Varied projects – work across a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure schemes.

If you’re an experienced Site Engineer who wants to work on interesting projects without the usual requirement to spend your week away from home, this could be an excellent opportunity to explore.
