How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Control Team Leader - Based Poole

    IMMEDIATE START!

    Basic salary £46,000 depending on experience, plus 33 days holidays, options to buy 5 extra days, 1pm finish Friday, matched contributory pension, additional benefits, and career development.

    Role Overview

    As Quality Control Team Leader, you will work closely with Operations to ensure parts and products are inspected effectively, customer delivery requirements are supported, and all required quality standards are maintained.

    Experience and Technical Capability

    You will bring strong technical competence, sound engineering judgement, and confident decision-making. Ideally, you will have significant experience as a Senior Quality Control Inspector or in a similar role.

    Leadership and Working Style

    You will be a proactive problem-solver who can think creatively, take ownership, and challenge existing processes when appropriate.

    Demonstrate accountability and ownership, with evidence of leading projects, process improvements, or key operational activities in a quality environment.

    Communicate clearly and work effectively across different functions and levels of the business.

    Quality Control and Continuous Improvement

    You will implement and maintain in-process quality control methods, including:

    Process Capability studies

    Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)

    Statistical Process Control (SPC)

    You will also support continuous improvement across Quality Control, helping to keep inspection processes lean, effective, and aligned with company quality standards.

    Candidate Skills

    * The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

    * Extensive mechanical inspection experience or a relevant apprenticeship.

    * Hand-tool and CMM measurement experience is advantageous.

    * Effective time management and reliable delivery.

    * Ability to train and support seven QC Inspectors.

    * Clear, confident communication.

    * Strong attention to detail.

    * Works independently and effectively in multifunctional teams.

    * Creative problem-solving and willingness to challenge assumptions.

    Desirable skills but not essential

    * Knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 or AS9100, MSA, Process Capability, and SPC.

    * Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa, and 5 Whys.

    * Mechanical engineering background, including experience with measuring techniques.

    Duties

    Manage the QC team’s day-to-day operations.

    Conduct and support daily inspections as required.

    Conduct Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) studies.

    Escalate resourcing concerns to the Lead Process Quality Engineer and propose solutions in line with internal processes.

    Support recruitment in line with best practice and company policy.

    Identify, propose, and implement QC process improvements to enhance product quality.

    Set workloads, targets, deadlines, and objectives, ensuring delivery.

    Monitor competence and performance, identify training needs, and support development.

    Maintain training coverage for absences and changing business needs.

    Conduct appraisals and performance reviews, addressing development needs.

    Approve holidays and absences while maintaining staffing levels.

    Manage new-starter induction and probation reviews in line with company policy.

    Handle employee relations matter in line with company policy.

    Manage absence, complete return-to-work interviews within 24 hours and escalate concerns appropriately.

    Support improvement projects and new product introductions from a QC perspective.

    Manage COSHH requirements and related risk assessments.

    Develop inspection measurement skills and provide support as needed.

    Identify and justify additional inspection equipment needs
