How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Beacon 1 - Behaviour Support Assistant

    Salary: £20,825.11 actual (£25,989 FTE), Band 5 OPT, Scale Point 6
    Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4.00pm
    Contract: Permanent, full-time, term-time only plus two days
    Start date: As soon as possible
    Closing date: Friday 25 September 2026 at noon

    St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College is seeking a positive and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join its Radiate team and wider Inclusion provision.

    The Role

    Working alongside colleagues across the College, you will support students to achieve high standards of behaviour through one-to-one and small-group mentoring. You will help students remain engaged with their learning, enjoy College life and achieve positive outcomes.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Supporting students within the College’s internal behaviour and inclusion provision
    Creating a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment
    Delivering learning activities and targeted interventions
    Mentoring students and monitoring their progress
    Promoting positive values, attitudes and behaviour
    Supervising internally excluded students and students outside lesson times
    Supporting Individual Education Plans and Personal Care Programmes
    Responding to behaviour incidents and escorting students to behaviour support
    Assisting with investigations into breaches of the Behaviour Policy
    Collating behaviour and achievement data and communicating detention information
    Liaising with teachers, parents and other professionals
    Invigilating examinations and administering routine tests when required
    Supporting the wider Inclusion provision and long-term behaviour support unit
    About You

    You will be a calm, confident and approachable team player with a genuine interest in supporting young people. You will need strong communication, mentoring, organisational and administrative skills, together with the resilience to support students with a wide range of needs.

    Applicants should have:

    An NQF Level 2 qualification in Health, Childcare, Youth Work, Community Language or equivalent experience
    GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
    Good computer skills
    A commitment to inclusion and high expectations for every student
    A willingness to undertake First Aid training
    An understanding of and respect for the College’s Catholic ethos
    The College operates across two sites, and the successful candidate may be required to work at either location.
