How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Welder / Fabricator

    Tarmac Topblock | Alfreton, Derbyshire

    (Overtime Available) Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm

    About the Role

    Tarmac Topblock is looking for an experienced and motivated Welder / Fabricator to join our Engineering Team at our Alfreton manufacturing site.

    This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance and reliability of plant equipment across the site. You'll be involved in repair work, fabrication projects, shutdown activities and working closely with the wider engineering team to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    Repair and refurbishment of bogies, frames and production equipment
    General fabrication and welding work to a high standard
    Manufacturing and modifying components as required
    Assisting mechanical engineers with maintenance and repair activities
    Supporting planned shutdown preparation and execution
    Carrying out site improvement projects
    Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
    Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standardAbout You

    We are looking for a confident self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.

    Essential Requirements

    Proven experience as a Welder / Fabricator within an industrial or manufacturing environment
    Competent in at least one of the following welding processes:
    MIG Welding
    TIG Welding
    Stick (MMA) Welding
    Ability to read drawings and fabricate components accurately
    High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
    Strong health and safety awareness
    Flexible approach and willingness to support maintenance activities across the siteDesirable Requirements

    Competence in all three welding disciplines: MIG, TIG and Stick (MMA)
    Experience supporting mechanical maintenance activities
    Experience working within heavy industry, manufacturing or production environmentsWhat We Offer
