How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Control Systems Engineer x2

    £45-60k + Paid Overtime, Pension, Training, 23 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for two experienced Controls Engineers to join a well-established and growing control systems engineering business. Following significant new project wins and continued business growth, the company is expanding its Controls Engineering team.

    You will work on bespoke industrial automation projects across sectors including Automotive, Food & Beverage, Aerospace and Pharmaceutical, taking projects from software design and development through to testing, commissioning and customer handover.

    Control Systems Engineer – The Role:

    Design and develop PLC software from first principles for bespoke industrial automation systems
    Program primarily Siemens TIA Portal / S7 and/or Rockwell Studio 5000
    Develop, test and commission safety-related control software
    Configure and commission VFDs, servo drives, motion systems, fieldbus networks and remote I/O
    Work with industrial communication protocols
    Read and interpret electrical drawings, I/O schedules and functional specifications
    Carry out practical electrical and control-system fault finding during build, testing and commissioning
    Produce and maintain FDS, test documentation, commissioning records and O&M information
    Support legacy systems including Siemens S7 Classic and STL/IL where required
    Work closely with Project Managers, Electrical Design, Panel Build and Installation teams
    Commission systems at customer sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays and weekend work
    Support customer acceptance testing and technical handover
    Contribute to the development and improvement of control systems and engineering processes
    What We're Looking For:

    Practical experience of control-system fault finding and site commissioning
    Experience producing clear technical documentation
    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
    Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
    Desirable Experience:

    Siemens S7 Classic, STL and/or IL
    Robotics, particularly KUKA, ABB or FANUC
    Motion control using Siemens, Rockwell, Bosch Rexroth or similar
    CNC systems
    HMI, SCADA or vision systems
    EPLAN Electric P8
    Formal machine safety or functional safety training
