How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A medium sized building services engineering consultancy specialising in mission-critical and data centre design are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team based out of modern offices near Liverpool Street Station. This engineering consultancy have a fantastic reputation within the data centre industry and are expanding rapidly with the hire of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer being instrumental in this expansion, providing lots of opportunities for this candidate.

    Employing some of the best mechanical, electrical, public health, sustainability and energy engineers and technicians in the industry, this company employs over 50 engineers globally and has a full order book of major data centre schemes stretching well into the coming years. Their project range is predominately hyperscale and colocation data centre developments, along with associated mission-critical infrastructure, with live projects across Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

    Within this role you will be expected to:

    * Design, plan and coordinate data centre projects through all RIBA Stages.

    * Attend client and design team meetings, including with international stakeholders

    * Manage key client accounts across multiple regions

    * Produce high performance mechanical building services engineering design into landmark data centre facilities

    * Assist the Director with project bids, contracts, resource and fee forecasting

    * Produce mechanical and HVAC design for critical cooling systems that meets Building Regs, CIBSE guidelines and relevant international data centre standards (e.g. Uptime Institute Tier ratings)

    Candidates should have:

    * At least 6 years' experience within Mechanical Design Engineering, ideally with exposure to data centre or other mission-critical environments

    * Familiarity with building regulations, CIBSE guidelines and data centre cooling/resilience concepts (CRAC/CRAH, chilled water systems, N+1/2N redundancy)

    * Experience working in a client facing role, ideally with international clients

    * Experience working on programmes such as Hevacomp for Mechanical Design

    * Good commercial awareness

    * Willingness to travel internationally as project needs require

    * Passionate about the data centre industry and wanting to progress

    This is a fantastic opportunity to progress to Associate level within 12 months for the right candidate, with genuine international project exposure
