How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Office Manager

    We are looking for an experienced Office Manager to support the smooth and efficient running of a busy school office.

    Previous School admin experience is essential

    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school's administrative and clerical functions, supervising office staff, maintaining pupil and staff records, and supporting financial and HR processes. This role would suit someone highly organised, confident using school systems, and experienced in leading a small admin team.

    Role Details:

    Position: Office Manager
    Grade: Grade 7
    Hours: 35 hours per week
    Working Pattern: Term time plus three weeks

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the school office
    * Supervise, support and delegate work to office staff
    * Maintain accurate pupil, staff, attendance and training records
    * Support school finance processes, including dinner money, accounting procedures and audit preparation
    * Maintain computerised and paper-based school databases
    * Act as Systems Manager for the administrative computer network
    * Produce reports and support annual DFE returns where required
    * Support HR processes in liaison with the HR Manager
    * Assist with admissions, parental meetings and school administration
    * Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection procedures are followed at all times

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    * Experience supervising and motivating an administrative team
    * Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases and spreadsheets
    * Experience using school systems and maintaining accurate records
    * Knowledge of administrative and financial procedures
    * Excellent organisation, communication and attention to detail
    * Confidence managing workloads, deadlines and office priorities
    * The ability to minute meetings and input information accurately
    * A professional, calm and helpful approach when dealing with staff, parents and visitors
