How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Overhead Linesman (LE1)

    Location: Scotland site-based, candidates can be based anywhere in the UK with travel flexibility.

    UK Wide Projects

    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + benefits + site allowances + bonuses.
    Shift Pattern: 10-hour shifts | Weekend on / Weekend off
    Travel: Site-based with regular UK travel and overnight stays

    ARCA Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK energy and infrastructure business for an experienced Overhead Linesman (LE1) to join its growing transmission and distribution team.

    Our client delivers specialist engineering and operational services across the UK energy and utilities sector, including high-voltage networks, renewables and grid connection projects.

    The Role

    As an Overhead Linesman (LE1) you will support the safe and efficient delivery of overhead line construction projects, working alongside the OHL Foreman and providing technical guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Overhead line construction, including foundations, tower erection and conductor stringing.

    * Installation of conductors, earth wires, insulators, fittings and associated equipment.

    * Maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling of existing OHL assets.

    * Working to RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.

    * Supporting and mentoring LE2 Operatives and Trainees.

    * Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.

    * Identifying and reporting operational, safety and programme issues.

    About You

    We're looking for an experienced OHL professional with:

    * Significant LE1 experience within transmission and distribution.

    * Proven experience on 132kV–400kV OHL projects.

    * Strong knowledge of RAMS, working at height and safe systems of work.

    * Relevant National Grid competencies.

    * Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.

    * Strong communication and leadership skills.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable: National Grid Competent Person Authorisations, First Aid, Rescue from Height, CPCS, EUSR/CSCS and lifting or rigging experience.
