How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Tutor in Lewisham to provide bespoke 1:1 tuition to children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who are currently out of education, attending alternative provisions, or requiring additional support outside of mainstream settings.

As an SEMH Tutor, you will create, plan, and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of each learner while building positive relationships and promoting engagement with education. Many of the pupils you will support may have experienced barriers to learning, school anxiety, behavioural challenges, trauma, or extended periods away from education.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced teachers, tutors, mentors, support workers, or education professionals looking to move away from a traditional classroom environment and make a genuine difference through personalised learning.

Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor pupil progress, provide ongoing support, and ensure effective outcomes for every learner.

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

QTS, QTLS, PGCE, Teaching Qualification, Degree, or equivalent experience working with children and young people
Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, SEND, behavioural needs, or within alternative provision settings
Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or supporting vulnerable young people
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of safeguarding and supporting pupils with additional needs
Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued within the last year (desirable, however not essential)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years
