How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Maths and English Tutor:

    Job Title: Maths and English Tutor

    Location: Lewisham

    Pay Rate: £25- 30 per hour

    Hours: Between 5-25 hours per week

    Job Type: Temporary | Part-Time |

    Our GCSE tutors play a vital role in bridging learning gaps for students with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and those working below expected levels.

    We understand every learner's journey is different- that's why we offer flexible hours to fit around your schedule, and the opportunity to make a genuine, lasting difference.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Deliver one-to-one GCSE Maths and English lessons tailored to SEN learning profiles.
    Adapt lesson content and pace to support emotional regulation and learning style.
    Support the student in developing subject knowledge, study skills and exam confidence.
    Build a trusting and consistent rapport to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
    Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents/carers or professionals as needed.

    Essential Requirements:

    Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English.
    Design and deliver individualised lesson plans in line with EHCPs or identified support needs.
    Use a calm, consistent, and encouraging approach to build trust and foster student engagement.
    Liaise with parents, carers, and professionals to ensure consistent and coordinated support.
    Requirements:

    Minimum 1 year experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or therapeutic setting.
    Experience teaching or supporting Functional Skills and/or core subjects. (Maths or English)
    Right to work in the UK.
    Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.

    Desired:

    SEN Qualification, ABA experience, or training in Autism/ Social Communication strategies.
    PGCE or QTS.
    Previous experience working with students in an alternative provision or outside the classroom environment.
