How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Autism & PDA Support) – Year 2

    Location: Finchley, N12
Start Date: Thursday 3rd September 2026
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
    Pay: £108.75 – £112.00 per day

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, Ofsted-rated Good, one-form entry primary school in Finchley (N12) for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Year 2 team from 3rd September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) who is currently accessing school on a reduced timetable. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's learning, emotional regulation and engagement within the school environment.

Outside of the child's reduced timetable, you will work as a general Year 2 Teaching Assistant, supporting the class teacher and pupils across the classroom.

    The Role

    * Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Autism and PDA.

    * Build a positive, trusting relationship to support learning and emotional wellbeing.

    * Use effective behaviour management strategies and adapt your approach to meet the child's individual needs.

    * Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.

    * Support learning and classroom activities as a general Year 2 Teaching Assistant when the pupil is not in school.

    * Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

    The Ideal Candidate

    * Has previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or PDA (school-based experience preferred).

    * Has excellent behaviour management skills and can remain calm, patient and consistent.

    * Is proactive, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

    * Is reliable, flexible and committed to supporting children with additional needs.

    * Holds an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one before starting.

If you are a committed SEN Teaching Assistant with the skills and passion to support children with additional needs, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to be considered for this fantastic opportunity starting in September 2026.
