How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Description The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring that business activities align with the company’s strategic objectives. The COO will lead and manage operational teams, implement and refine processes, and monitor performance metrics to drive efficiency and quality. This role includes collaborating with the leadership to develop and execute business plans, managing budgets and financial performance, and identifying opportunities for growth and risk mitigation. The COO will also ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, foster a culture of accountability and engagement, and support change management initiatives. Regular responsibilities include reviewing operational reports, optimizing resource allocation, and communicating operational priorities to stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    • Strong business planning and strategic management skills, with experience in developing and executing long-term operational plans and knowledge of the bulk chemical industries.
    • Proven expertise in operations management, including process improvement, performance measurement, and team leadership.
    • Well-developed analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
    • Solid finance and budgeting capabilities, including managing P&L, forecasting, and cost control.
    • Extensive leadership experience in senior operational roles, preferably within a multi-site or complex organization.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive change, manage projects, and implement new systems or processes.
    • An Ability to think out of the box proactively and seek now opportunities is required, a track record of developing new business streams is of great interest to my client.
    • Experience working in the UK business environment and familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
