Veritas Education is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Nelson, Lancashire, to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about creating engaging, inclusive and purposeful learning experiences for children as they make the important transition into Key Stage 1.

The school has a strong community ethos and is committed to supporting pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. You'll join a dedicated staff team where teamwork, high expectations and positive relationships are at the heart of school life.

As the Year 1 Class Teacher, you will plan and deliver an engaging curriculum while supporting pupils to develop their confidence, independence and love of learning.

Recent experience delivering phonics and Read Write Inc. would be highly desirable, alongside a secure understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and the transition from Early Years into Key Stage 1.

👩‍🏫 We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has recent experience teaching Year 1 or within Key Stage 1
Has a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and Year 1 expectations
Has recent experience delivering phonics, ideally Read Write Inc.
Understands the importance of developing early reading, writing and phonics skills
Plans and delivers creative, engaging and purposeful lessons
Sets high expectations for behaviour, progress and achievement
Can adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND
Builds positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Creates a calm, nurturing and engaging classroom environment
Works effectively as part of a supportive school team
Is enthusiastic, organised and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children⭐ What the School Offers:

The successful applicant will be subject to enhanced DBS and barred list checks, QTS verification, right-to-work and identity checks, online checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, references, employment history, prohibition from teaching checks and other relevant safer recruitment checks.

Any gaps in employment history will be discussed at interview.
