How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you passionate about travel and tourism and keen to inspire the next generation of industry professionals? Are you an experienced tourism professional looking for flexible teaching opportunities, or an established lecturer seeking a role around your other commitments?

    Join Wiltshire College & University Centre and help students develop the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills they need to progress into careers across the travel and tourism industry or further study.

    We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in Further Education (FE), travel agencies, tour operations, airlines, airports, visitor attractions, hospitality, events, cruise operations, or related sectors. If you're passionate about travel and want to share your industry expertise, we'd love to hear from you.

    Please note: This is a Variable Hours position, with teaching hours dependent on curriculum delivery.

    Unqualified: £21.13 per hour plus holiday pay
    Qualified: £25.34 per hour plus holiday pay

    Contract Type: Variable Hours
    Hours offered as required during term time, subject to curriculum delivery and student recruitment.

    What You'll Do

    * Teach and assess students studying Travel & Tourism programmes

    * Deliver engaging lessons covering travel, tourism, destinations, customer service, and industry operations

    * Develop lesson plans and assessment strategies that support learner achievement

    * Bring industry knowledge and real-world experience into the classroom

    * Support enrichment activities, educational visits, competitions, and employer engagement

    * Keep learning current with industry trends, sustainability, technology, and destination developments

    * Provide pastoral support and contribute to enrolment and induction

    * Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety, and professional practice

    * Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an outstanding learner experience

    What You'll Bring

    * A level 3 qualification or higher in Travel & Tourism, Tourism Management, Hospitality, Events, or a related subject

    * Relevant industry or teaching experience

    * Good knowledge of the travel and tourism sector and current industry developments

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    * A passion for helping learners develop and achieve their career ambitions

    * Teaching qualifications are welcomed but not essential—we welcome experienced industry professionals looking to move into education
