How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD

    Location: Merton, South West London

    Salary: £90–£100 per day

    Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

    Start date: 28 September 2026 or ASAP

    A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Merton is looking for a patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD to support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

    You will provide individual, small-group and classroom support, helping pupils with autism access learning, develop their communication skills and become more confident and independent. The school has a collaborative SEND team and uses structured routines and personalised strategies to meet pupils’ individual needs.

    Responsibilities

    • Providing tailored learning and pastoral support

    • Helping pupils engage with lessons and adapted activities

    • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

    • Using visual timetables, now-and-next boards and positive reinforcement

    • Preparing pupils for transitions and changes in routine

    • Recognising sensory needs and supporting pupils to regulate

    • Encouraging independence and inclusive participation

    • Monitoring progress and sharing observations with teachers and the SENCO

    • Following individual support plans and safeguarding procedures

    Requirements

    • Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs

    • A calm, patient and consistent approach

    • Good communication and relationship-building skills

    • An understanding of autism, sensory needs and behaviour as communication

    • Experience with PECS, Makaton or visual communication strategies is desirable

    • A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification would be beneficial

    • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one
