We are looking for an experienced Technical Support Engineer with a background in electrical products, lighting, electrical installation or a closely related technical environment.
This is NOT an IT Technical Support role. Applicants must have electrical and/or lighting industry knowledge or experience.
Working as part of the Technical & Quality team, you will provide technical support across a range of LED luminaires, lighting controls, emergency lighting systems and associated electrical products.
The role will involve supporting customers and internal teams with technical enquiries, product selection, installation, fault finding, commissioning and product performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing technical support relating to LED lighting, luminaires, lighting controls, emergency lighting and associated electrical products.
Responding to technical enquiries by telephone and email, with occasional site visits where required.
Diagnosing product, installation, commissioning and performance issues and guiding customers through fault-finding and troubleshooting.
Providing technical advice to customers and internal sales teams.
Assessing customer requirements and recommending appropriate lighting and electrical solutions.
Supporting customers with product selection, technical specifications, compliance and application queries.
Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, technical drawings, specifications and installation documentation.
Working closely with Product Development, Quality and Manufacturing teams to investigate technical issues and identify root causes.
Supporting the preparation and updating of datasheets, installation instructions, technical bulletins and product information.
Maintaining accurate records of technical enquiries, investigations and resolutions.
Identifying recurring technical issues and helping to improve product quality and customer experience.
Candidate requirements
The successful candidate must have a good technical understanding of electrical products and ideally LED lighting, luminaires, lighting controls or emergency lighting systems.
You should have strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills and be confident interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics and technical product information.
Experience within the lighting, electrical, electrical manufacturing, electrical installation or construction products sector would be particularly suitable.
Electrical qualifications or practical electrical installation experience would be advantageous.
You will also need good communication skills and the ability to explain electrical and technical information clearly to customers who may have different levels of technical knowledge.
Previous experience in technical support would be useful; however, we are particularly interested in candidates with strong electrical or lighting knowledge who have the technical ability and customer skills to move into this type of position.
