How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist School - Solihull

Aspire People are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist all-age SEN school in Solihull for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant.

The school supports children and young people with moderate learning difficulties, including pupils with autism and a range of additional needs. The school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every student is encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and potential.

    The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students throughout their school day. You will provide tailored support based on individual learning, communication, social and emotional needs.

The role will involve supporting students both within the classroom and, where appropriate, during wider school activities. You will help pupils engage with their learning, develop essential life skills and make positive progress.

    Key Responsibilities
Supporting pupils with moderate learning difficulties and additional needs.
Working with students who may have autism and communication or sensory needs.
Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning programmes.
Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students to develop their confidence and independence.
Helping pupils develop communication, social and practical life skills.
Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
Supporting pupils during break times, transitions and wider school activities.
Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and other professionals.
Following individual support plans and contributing to students' development and progress.
    The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who has a genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Previous experience working within an SEN, SEND, autism, specialist school or similar educational setting would be highly desirable. Candidates should be confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs and be able to remain calm, consistent and supportive when faced with challenging situations.

You should have strong communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated school team.

    About the School

The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum alongside personalised learning and enrichment opportunities. There is a strong focus on supporting students' academic development, communication, independence, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood.

Staff are committed to creating an environment where students feel valued, understood and supported to achieve the best possible outcomes.
