How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company

    A specialist utilities contractor delivering water mains renewal, diversion and infrastructure upgrade schemes across the region. Working closely with water companies and principal contractors, the business has a strong pipeline of NEC-based projects and a reputation for high-quality project delivery.

    Your new role

    We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of water mains renewal and diversion projects. Working under NEC contracts, you will be responsible for managing applications for payment, subcontractor accounts, client queries, compensation events and commercial reporting.A key part of the role will involve producing accurate material and work take-offs from client drawings and designs, identifying project requirements and helping to reduce compensation events through thorough planning and commercial management.
    Key responsibilities include:

    Managing applications for payment and subcontractor certificates.
    Producing material and work quantity take-offs from client designs and drawings.
    Assessing and managing compensation events under NEC contracts.
    Responding to client commercial queries and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
    Preparing weekly progress and commercial reports.
    Reviewing and validating site information and commercial data received from operational teams.
    Supporting procurement activities and cost forecasting.
    Maintaining accurate commercial records and activity logs.What you'll need to succeed

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the utilities or water sector.
    Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
    Ability to undertake detailed quantity take-offs from technical drawings and designs.
    Experience managing compensation events, applications and subcontractor accounts.
    Excellent organisation and record-keeping skills.
    Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
    Ability to analyse site information and translate it into accurate commercial outputs.
    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems.What you'll get in return
