How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

New Chapter Tuition is recruiting an experienced KS1 SEN Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition to children who require education outside of, or additional to, a traditional classroom environment.

We currently have opportunities available across Lewisham, with individual tuition packages typically providing 10–15 hours of direct tuition per student each week, plus an additional 2–3 paid hours for planning and preparation.

This means each individual student package provides approximately 12–18 paid hours per week, with opportunities to support additional learners and build a fuller weekly timetable.

    The Role

As a KS1 SEN Tutor, you will provide consistent, relationship-led 1:1 support tailored around the individual learner.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    *

Delivering personalised KS1 English and Maths tuition

    *

Planning engaging activities around individual ability and interests

    *

Adapting learning for children working below age-related expectations

    *

Using practical, visual and sensory approaches to learning

    *

Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement

    *

Using strategies such as visual prompts and Now & Next

    *

Building positive and trusting relationships with learners

    *

Working towards EHCP outcomes and individual educational targets

    *

Monitoring progress and completing weekly reports

    *

Preparing appropriate learning resources for each session

Initial sessions may have a greater focus on relationship-building, communication and engagement, allowing academic learning to develop at an appropriate pace.

Previous experience supporting autistic and/or non-verbal children is highly desirable.

You should be confident adapting both your teaching and communication style to meet individual needs, including the use of visual communication, modelling, sensory learning, repetition and appropriate processing time.

Above all, we are looking for tutors who are patient, creative, reliable and relationship-led, with a genuine understanding that progress looks different for every child.

    Pay & Hours

£25–£35 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications.

    Each student package typically includes:

10–15 hours of direct 1:1 tuition per week

    *

An additional 2–3 paid hours per week for planning and preparation
