How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    One of Adecco's most improved public sector housing clients is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic car-driving Homelessness Advisor to join their team in Solihull (West Midlands). This temporary position is initially for three months and is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of those at risk of homelessness. If you are committed to providing high-quality customer service and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, this opportunity is for you!

    This is a full time role for 37 hours each week (Monday to Friday), and candidates will ideally possess experience of temporary accommodation, too. In this role you will supports individuals and families at risk of homelessness by providing tailored advice and information at the first point of contact. You will be part of a customer facing service responsible for delivering an excellent customer focused Housing Options service which provides a wide range of quality advice and assistance to customers.

    The post holder will provide:
    * A high-quality customer focused service to all our clients' customers
    * A proactive approach to early interventions to prevent homelessness
    * Support and advice to customers to sustain their current home
    * Support to the wider team to meet the requirements set out under the legislative framework of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide exceptional customer-focused advice and support to individuals and families facing homelessness.
    Manage homelessness inquiries through various channels, ensuring prompt resolutions whenever possible.
    Conduct initial assessments to determine the needs of customers, offering tailored housing solutions.
    Assist in securing temporary accommodation for homeless households and complete all necessary paperwork.
    Maintain detailed and accurate case files, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and data protection regulations.
    Work collaboratively with housing providers to facilitate the move-on process for applicants requiring long-term accommodation.
    Support the wider team to meet legislative requirements, particularly under the Homeless Reduction Act 2017.
    Produce statistical data and reports as required.Essential Skills and Qualifications:

    Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage empathetically and professionally with customers in crisis.
    Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple cases and prioritising effectively.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
    Knowledge of homelessness issues, social housing policy, and welfare benefits.
    Understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and related local authority duties.
    A proactive, solution-focused attitude with strong negotiation and influencing skills.What Our Client Offers:
