How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role- Maintenance Engineer

    Respond to breakdowns and maintain site wide electrical & Mechanical systems in order to minimise engineering downtime. Provide continuous improvement support for all on site functions and business needs

    We are looking for an experienced and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability, availability and performance of our machinery, equipment and site facilities.

    Working as part of a busy engineering team, you will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, statutory inspections, breakdown response and continuous improvement. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and wider business to minimise downtime and ensure our equipment operates safely and efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out all engineering activities safely and professionally, ensuring compliance with current legislation, company procedures and engineering best practice.

    * Complete planned preventative maintenance, reactive/breakdown maintenance and statutory checks as required.

    * Work closely with the Engineering Manager to prioritise workloads and ensure appropriate resources are available to resolve issues effectively.

    * Work as part of the on-site Engineering team to minimise engineering downtime and prioritise maintenance activities in line with business needs.

    * Complete accurate shift reports, recording work undertaken, outstanding issues and recommended actions/plans for resolution.

    * Respond to emergency breakdowns and be prepared to work additional hours when required to support the business.

    * Identify opportunities to improve machine availability, reliability and performance.

    * Develop a strong understanding of machine processes and operations to support effective fault finding and maintenance.

    * Manage and control contractors on site, including inductions, permits and ensuring all work is completed safely and compliantly.

    * Work within company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate permit-to-work and isolation systems are used when working on electrical and mechanical systems.

    * Ensure all equipment can be safely isolated in accordance with relevant legislation and good engineering practice.

    * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and complete relevant training to maintain and develop technical skills.

    * Support a range of business-related projects and processes, both engineering and non-engineering.

    * Maintain, inspect and support the site's facilities and essential services.

    * Liaise with suppliers regarding technical requirements for parts and services, obtaining quotations and raising purchase requests for approval and ordering.

    * Develop and maintain operating standards and engineering practices to improve machine efficiency and support autonomous maintenance.

    * Undertake any other reasonable and critical engineering duties required to support the needs of the business.

    About You

    We are looking for someone who is:

    * Experienced in a maintenance engineering or similar engineering environment.

    * Strong in both mechanical and electrical fault finding.

    * Able to diagnose problems quickly and implement effective solutions.

    * Safety-conscious, with a strong understanding of safe isolation and permit-to-work procedures.

    * Organised and able to prioritise workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment.

    * A strong team player with excellent communication skills.

    * Proactive, practical and committed to continuous improvement.

    * Comfortable working with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

    * Willing to undertake additional hours when required to respond to emergency situations.

    * Committed to learning, development and keeping technical knowledge up to date.

    Salary- £51,000

    Location- WA16

    Industry- Plastic Manufacturer

    Shifts- Roating Panamas week 1,2 is 6pm-6am. Week 3,4 is 11pm-11am

    ( 2 weekends in every 4 week rotation)
