How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager to join a major construction project in Brentford.

    The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing and coordinating the commissioning of mechanical building services, ensuring systems are fully tested, commissioned and handed over in accordance with the project programme, design requirements and relevant standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage the mechanical commissioning process from pre-commissioning through to final handover.

    • Develop, review and manage commissioning programmes, plans and schedules in line with the overall construction programme.

    • Coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical subcontractors, specialist commissioning engineers and the wider project team.

    • Oversee the commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, heating, chilled water, domestic water, drainage and associated plant.

    • Review commissioning documentation, method statements, testing procedures and commissioning records.

    • Ensure systems are installed correctly and ready for testing and commissioning prior to works commencing.

    • Witness testing and commissioning activities and ensure results meet design specifications and performance requirements.

    • Identify commissioning issues, defects and outstanding works and coordinate their resolution with relevant subcontractors.

    • Work closely with the M&E Manager, Project Manager, design team, consultants and client representatives.

    • Monitor commissioning progress against programme and report on risks, delays and outstanding actions.

    • Coordinate interfaces between mechanical systems, electrical systems, BMS and controls.

    • Manage commissioning meetings and maintain accurate records of actions and progress.

    • Ensure all commissioning documentation, test certificates, O&M information and handover records are completed correctly.

    • Support integrated systems testing, demonstration and client training where required.

    • Ensure commissioning activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with project health & safety requirements.

    Experience Required

    • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Commissioning Manager or Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer on major construction projects.

    • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services and commissioning procedures.

    • Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and specialist commissioning teams.

    • Good understanding of HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, water systems, BMS and associated controls.

    • Experience working through the full commissioning lifecycle from installation and pre-commissioning through to testing, witnessing and final handover.

    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, commissioning schedules and technical documentation.

    • Strong understanding of commissioning programmes, quality assurance and project handover requirements.

    • Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants and client teams.

    Qualifications

    • Relevant mechanical/building services qualification or substantial equivalent industry experience.

    • SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification preferred.

    • CSCS card appropriate to the role.

    • Commissioning-specific qualifications or membership of CIBSE/CSA would be advantageous.

    The successful candidate will be an experienced, hands-on commissioning professional capable of taking ownership of the mechanical commissioning process and driving the project through testing, completion and successful handover
