How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor – Permanent

    Location: Glasgow
    Salary: £42,000 – £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
    Job Type: Permanent

    We are currently recruiting for Quantity Surveyors to join an established and growing team in Glasgow on a permanent basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity for commercially focused Quantity Surveyors looking to develop their career while working within the construction, infrastructure or engineering sectors.

    The Role

    As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual requirements.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Managing the commercial performance of allocated projects.

    * Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.

    * Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.

    * Managing variations, change control and commercial risk.

    * Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor packages and accounts.

    * Monitoring project costs and identifying potential commercial issues.

    * Working closely with project managers, subcontractors, clients and suppliers.

    * Supporting procurement and tendering activities.

    * Ensuring contractual and commercial procedures are followed.

    * Providing accurate commercial reporting to senior management.

    The Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, infrastructure or engineering.

    Essential:

    * Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying / Commercial role.

    * Previous experience within construction, infrastructure or engineering.

    * Strong commercial and contractual awareness.

    * Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

    * Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.

    * Strong IT and Excel skills.

    * A proactive and commercially focused approach.

    A relevant degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline would be advantageous.

    We are open to candidates from Assistant Quantity Surveyor through to Senior Quantity Surveyor level, depending on experience.
