How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new firm
    Our client is a highly respected UK law firm with a strong reputation for providing strategic, commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of practice areas. The firm's specialist Pensions team advises a diverse client base of trustees, employers and pension scheme providers on all aspects of pensions law, delivering practical solutions to complex legal and regulatory challenges. The team is recognised for its technical expertise and collaborative approach, supporting clients on scheme governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and pensions issues arising from corporate transactions.

    Your new role
    This is an exciting opportunity for a Pensions Associate to join a highly regarded team in Guildford. You will work closely with partners and senior lawyers on a broad range of pensions and life assurance matters, including advisory, transactional and regulatory work.Your responsibilities will include advising trustee and employer clients on day-to-day pension scheme and life assurance scheme matters, including governance, benefit structures and regulatory compliance. You will support the pensions aspects of corporate transactions, conducting due diligence and assisting with drafting pensions-related documentation. You will also be involved in drafting and reviewing scheme documentation, member communications and legal advice notes, as well as undertaking legal research on developments in pensions law and regulatory changes. Alongside your technical work, you will have direct client contact, participate in client meetings and contribute to delivering practical, commercially focused solutions. You will also support business development initiatives, including assisting with pitches, events and thought leadership activities.

    What you'll need to succeed
    You will be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with approximately 1-3 years' post-qualification experience and some exposure to pensions law, either through a specialist pensions practice or broader advisory work.You will possess excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills, together with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. A genuine interest in pensions law and a commitment to developing expertise within this specialist area will be important.You will be commercially minded, proactive and organised in your approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with both colleagues and clients. The successful candidate will enjoy working collaboratively, demonstrate enthusiasm to learn and be committed to delivering high-quality client service.
