How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Motor Vehicle Teacher - SEMH School

    We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Ashford who are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Motor Vehicle Teacher to join their team on a long-term, full-time basis, starting ASAP.

    The Role:

    Deliver practical and engaging Motor Vehicle lessons to students within an SEMH setting.
    Plan and prepare lessons that cater to a range of abilities and learning needs.
    Teach students practical skills relating to vehicle maintenance, repair and mechanics.
    Support students to develop vocational skills and prepare them for further education, apprenticeships or employment.
    Maintain a safe, structured and positive workshop environment.
    Build strong relationships with students and use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement.
    Work closely with colleagues and the wider school team to support students' academic, social and emotional development.

    The Ideal Candidate: Motor Vehicle Teacher

    A Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Vehicle Technology, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline - such as IMI, City & Guilds or equivalent.
    Strong practical experience within the Motor Vehicle/Automotive industry.
    Previous experience teaching, training, mentoring or supporting young people is highly desirable.
    A recognised teaching qualification such as Level 3 AET, Level 4 CET, Level 5 DET/DiT, PGCE or Cert Ed would be advantageous, although candidates with strong industry experience who are willing to work towards a teaching qualification will also be considered.
    GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths is desirable.
    Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs would be highly advantageous.
    Already experienced as a Motor Vehicle Teacher
    A patient, resilient and enthusiastic approach to working with challenging behaviour.
    The ability to engage students through practical, hands-on learning.
    A current DBS or willingness to obtain one.
