How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Production Engineer

    Location: West Sussex
    Salary: £40,000 to £45,000
    Contract: Permanent, full-time

An established specialist engineering and manufacturing business is looking for a Production Engineer to join its team in West Sussex.

This is a practical position for someone who enjoys working closely with the shop floor, solving manufacturing problems and improving how technically complex products are produced.

    The role

Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality, you will help develop, improve and standardise manufacturing processes across the business.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing existing manufacturing processes and identifying improvements

Supporting new products and engineering changes as they move into production

Resolving day-to-day manufacturing and process issues

Investigating recurring problems and supporting root-cause analysis

Developing work instructions, process documentation and standard operating procedures

Improving production flow, quality, repeatability and efficiency

Designing or improving tooling, fixtures and manufacturing aids

Working directly with operators and supervisors to understand practical production challenges

    Supporting continuous-improvement and cost-reduction projects

Working alongside Design Engineering and Quality to improve manufacturability

Supporting trials, validation activity and the introduction of new equipment or processes

    What we are looking for

    You will ideally have:

Previous experience as a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer or similar

A practical engineering background within manufacturing

Experience improving processes within a live production environment

Strong problem-solving and root-cause investigation skills

The ability to read and understand engineering drawings

Experience producing technical documentation and work instructions

    An understanding of continuous-improvement principles

The confidence to work directly with production teams

A relevant engineering qualification or strong equivalent experience

Experience within complex, low-volume or quality-led manufacturing would be particularly useful.

You do not need to come from one specific industry. The main requirement is that you can provide practical examples of improving manufacturing processes and resolving genuine production problems.

    The opportunity

This is an opportunity to join an established specialist manufacturer with technically interesting products, long-term projects and genuine scope to influence how things are made.

The position offers a salary between £40,000 and £45,000, depending on experience.
