How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Sales Engineer

Join an established engineering business with more than 50 years of industry experience, a team of 300+ people and an annual turnover exceeding £100 million.

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Sales Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing customer relationships, winning new business and delivering technically compliant, commercially sound proposals.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and successful company where engineering expertise, customer relationships and long-term partnerships are at the heart of what we do.

    The Role

Working closely with our Sales and Engineering teams, you will take ownership of the sales process from initial enquiry through to contract handover and beyond. You will become an important link between our customers, commercial teams and engineers, ensuring that projects are accurately estimated, clearly specified and delivered in line with customer requirements.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Taking responsibility for complying with the company's Business Management System within your area of activity.
Evaluating and preparing sales tenders and estimates, working collaboratively with internal and external members of the sales team.
Building strong relationships with potential and existing customers, from the initial enquiry through to order and project delivery.
Preparing estimates and tenders in accordance with the company's engineering standards, procedures and product requirements.
Working with customers at order stage to ensure compliance with the company's commercial and credit-control procedures.
Preparing comprehensive contract folders for handover to Engineering and actively participating in handover meetings.
Maintaining regular customer contact throughout the enquiry and post-order stages, ensuring continuity, professionalism and excellent customer relationships.
Working closely with Engineering to ensure projects meet the agreed build specification, including any works required on customer sites.
Supporting the Engineering team with the commercial assessment and management of contract cost variations.
Assessing new products, suppliers, technologies and techniques alongside Sales and Engineering colleagues, helping us continually improve our offering.
Attending internal and external meetings with customers, including meetings at customer offices and project sites, as required.
Where CAD skills are available, supporting the Sales team with the creation of General Arrangement drawings and single-line power schematics using AutoCAD, based on your own sketches or those provided by colleagues.

    Why Join Us?

You will be joining a business with a proven track record spanning more than five decades, backed by the resources and stability of a £100m+ organisation and a workforce of more than 300 people.

We combine the strength and professionalism of an established engineering company with a focus on innovation, customer service and long-term growth. You will work alongside experienced Sales and Engineering professionals, have genuine responsibility within the sales process, and play a visible role in helping us win and deliver technically demanding projects.

If you're an ambitious Sales Engineer looking for your next opportunity with a company that has the experience, scale and reputation to support your career, we'd like to hear from you.
