How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

In our Custodial Department, we’re on the front line of creating safer environments – working on high-security projects so confidential we can’t even tell you the details (yes, it’s that secret). From concept through to completion, you’ll be hands-on with Protec’s own cutting-edge technology and trusted third-party systems, building integrated life safety solutions that truly make a difference. Your expertise in British Standards will be the backbone of our Special Projects Bid Team, as you help craft spot-on tech submissions, persuasive quotation, and sealed tenders for some of the UK’s most high-profile projects – think Government buildings, HMP sites, MoD, and MoJ. This is your chance to combine technical know-how with problem-solving flair – and play a key role in safeguarding people where it matters most.

    Typical Responsibilities

    * Create winning proposals – prepare and submit accurate quotations that tick every box, from client needs to British Standards.

    * Get creative with words – support with technical bid writing, helping craft methodologies and technical documents that really stand out.

    * Bring ideas to life – produce conceptual electronic designs and wiring schematics that shape future projects.

    * Team up & collaborate – work closely with Sales, Projects, and Design to deliver spot-on quotations to prospective clients.

    * Crunch the numbers – help prepare cost breakdowns, profit forecasts, and tidy up tenders so nothing’s missed.

    * Hunt for the best deals – gather competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to keep our bids sharp.

    * Quality checker – review 3rd-party quotes to make sure everything is fully compliant.

    * Be the face of the company – attend initial site meetings, carry out site surveys, and represent us with confidence.

    * Keep projects moving – process client sales orders, liaise with engineers, and make sure all job files are ready to roll.

    * Pitch in where needed – support with admin, calls, and any other tasks that keep the team running smoothly.

    Qualifications

    * An electrical based qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC etc

    Experience

    * Experience within a similar role, designing and costing new installations

    * Working knowledge of current British Standards

    * Experience of installing life safety and associated systems

    Skills / Abilities

    * Ability to produce and read technical drawings and specifications

    * An excellent eye for detail

    * Ability to consistently produce accurate costs

    * Excellent oral and written communication skills

    * Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work individually and as part of a successful team

    * Creative thinking with the ability to see and implement practical solutions

    * Proficient using Microsoft computer packages Including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook

    * Working to deadlines

    Other

    * Enthusiasm and willingness to learn

    * A full and valid driving license
