How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Trainee Recruitment Consultant

    About Northreach

Northreach is a specialist recruitment business working with ambitious companies across sectors including Technology, Financial Services and Life Sciences in the UK, USA & UAE

Recruitment is changing quickly. We combine strong relationships, commercial recruitment skills, data and modern technology to help clients identify and hire great people.

Our approach is simple: Human Led – AI Powered.

This opportunity is designed to give someone at the beginning of their career a genuine route into becoming a Recruitment Consultant.

No previous recruitment experience is required. What matters much more is your attitude, communication skills, curiosity and willingness to learn.

    The Opportunity

You will work closely with experienced members of the Northreach team. Initially, you will learn how to identify and speak with candidates, understand vacancies and support recruitment processes.

As your confidence and capability develop, you will take greater responsibility for your own candidates, recruitment assignments and business development activity.

The aim is not for you to remain a trainee. The objective is to develop you into a successful Recruitment Consultant with the ability to manage candidates, clients and your own area of the market.

    What You Will Learn

    You will learn how to:

    * Understand a client’s business, vacancy and hiring requirements

    * Research industries, companies and potential candidates

    * Identify suitable candidates using recruitment platforms, LinkedIn, databases and modern technology

    * Approach candidates professionally by telephone, email and social media

    * Hold meaningful candidate conversations and understand their experience, motivations and career goals

    * Assess candidates against specific vacancies

    * Present strong candidates internally and ultimately directly to clients

    * Write clear and engaging job advertisements

    * Coordinate interviews and manage candidate communication

    * Take detailed interview feedback

    * Support offer negotiations and candidate start processes

    * Build professional relationships with candidates and clients

    * Identify hiring managers, companies and potential business opportunities

    * Develop leads and market intelligence through candidate conversations and research

    * Understand how recruitment businesses generate revenue and build long-term client relationships

    * Use Northreach’s recruitment, CRM, data and AI tools effectively

    * Maintain accurate candidate, vacancy and client information

    * Manage your time, activity and priorities effectively

    What We Are Looking For

We are not expecting you to know recruitment.

We are looking for someone with the potential to become very good at it.

    You should be:

    * Confident communicating with different types of people

    * Naturally curious and interested in people and businesses

    * Comfortable asking questions and keeping a conversation going

    * Positive, energetic and willing to get involved

    * Organised and dependable

    * Comfortable using technology and learning new systems

    * Willing to pick up the telephone and speak with people you have never met

    * Able to listen and take on constructive feedback

    * Resilient when things do not go to plan

    * Motivated by achieving goals and seeing progress

    * Professional in how you communicate and represent Northreach

    * Ambitions and interested in developing a career rather than simply finding a job

You do not need to be the loudest person in the room.

We do, however, want someone who has something about them — whether that comes from sport, work, education, hobbies, volunteering, a personal interest or something they have worked hard to achieve.

We want people who can talk passionately about something and who are interested in learning about other people.

Your responsibilities will increase as you develop professionally.

Targets will develop alongside your experience rather than expecting you to operate as a fully trained recruiter from day one.

    Working Hours
