How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a London-based local authority, is seeking a Parking/CPZ Engineer on a contract basis to join its Traffic and Road Safety team. The role will focus on the design and development of controlled parking zones (CPZs), on-street parking schemes and related highways initiatives across the borough.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Design and develop controlled parking zones and other on-street parking schemes
    Support the Traffic and Road Safety team in responding to traffic and parking-related enquiries
    Prepare consultation plans, traffic orders, letters, emails, briefing notes and technical reports
    Document design decisions and recommendations to maintain a clear audit trail
    Assess the need for refreshing traffic signs and road markings, and arrange works through the council's processes
    Maintain accurate records of orders, invoices and payments to support budget monitoring and forecasting
    Progress projects effectively while working closely with the Senior Engineer and other stakeholders
    Explain technical recommendations clearly and calmly to members of the public, council officers and elected members

    Job Requirements:

    Experience in designing parking schemes, particularly within a London environment
    Strong understanding of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions
    Experience of preparing traffic orders and plans for public consultation
    Ability to use AutoCAD for technical drawings; experience with ParkMap would be advantageous
    Understanding of parking, traffic management and highway design principles
    Ability to take responsibility for progressing projects and developing appropriate parking solutions
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters to varied audiences
    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel around the boroughAdditional Information:
    The successful applicant will need to attend the borough and local authority offices at short notice and be available to work on site at least three days per week. The role requires a proactive, organised and collaborative approach within a small professional team.
