How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Technical Support Engineer – Heating

    £40,000 – £49,000 DOE
    Monday–Friday | Office Based

    Are you an experienced Heating Engineer who knows their way around boilers, heating systems and fault finding, but fancies getting off the tools?

    I’m recruiting for an established commercial heating business looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join its internal technical team.

    This is a fully office-based role where you’ll use your practical heating knowledge to support engineers, contractors and customers over the phone. When an engineer is standing in front of a boiler with a fault, you’ll be the person helping them work out what’s going on and how to resolve it.

    You don’t necessarily need previous technical support experience. What matters is that you understand heating systems well enough to build a mental picture of what’s happening on site, ask the right questions and confidently talk an engineer through a problem.

    The role

    * Providing telephone and email technical support to heating engineers and contractors

    * Diagnosing faults across commercial boilers, water heaters and heat pumps

    * Talking engineers through fault codes and electrical fault finding

    * Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics

    What we're looking for

    You’ll ideally come from a commercial or domestic heating background with strong hands-on fault-finding experience.

    Commercial heating knowledge would be particularly useful, although an experienced Domestic Heating Engineer with excellent technical knowledge could also be a strong fit.

    You’ll need to be comfortable talking technical issues through over the phone and have a good manner with engineers and customers.

    Previous experience within technical support would be a big advantage, but isn’t essential.

    Package

    * £43,000 – £49,000 depending on experience

    * 25 days' holiday

    * Pension

    * Monday to Friday

    * No field service or daily travelling

    This could be a particularly good move for an experienced Heating Engineer looking to use their technical knowledge in a less physically demanding role while remaining firmly within the industry
