How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

We are working with a long-established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of engineered-to-order pump systems for customers across the UK and international markets.

This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll be involved in rigging, assembling, commissioning and testing large-scale pump and engine systems before they are delivered to customers.

No previous pump testing experience is required - what matters is your mechanical ability, attention to detail, willingness to learn and commitment to working safely.

    Key Tasks:

    Your responsibilities will include:

Rigging and positioning pumps, motors and associated equipment within the test facility
    Connecting pipework, valves and instrumentation
Setting up equipment ready for testing and commissioning
Running pumps through a range of operating conditions
Measuring flow, pressure, temperature, vibration, speed, current, voltage and power
Recording and analysing test data using computer-based systems
Working with mechanical and electrical colleagues to resolve issues
Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and workmanship throughout the test process

    Background, Skills & Experience

Essential - Min NVQ2 in a Mechanical Engineering subject
Mechanically capable, practical and comfortable working with large industrial equipment.
Good computer skills, an eye for detail
    A strong safety-first approach

We would be interested in speaking with people from a range of hands-on engineering backgrounds, including:

Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician, HGV / Vehicle Technician, Heavy Plant Technician, Manufacturing / Test Technician, Engineering Apprentice

    On Offer

Competitive basic salary which increases after probation and training
    Paid Overtime
    Life Assurance
25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
    Company pension scheme
    Cycle to Work scheme
    Structured on-the-job trainingInterested?
