How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Support Worker / Carer

    Location: Tamworth

    Salary:  £13.51 per hour

Hours: Part time (21 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent following successful completion of an initial trial period

    About the Role

Standon Gardens Extra Care is looking for caring, reliable and hardworking individuals to join our dedicated Support Worker / Carer team.

In this rewarding role, you will primarily support people who live in their own apartments on site, providing personalised care and assistance while promoting independence, dignity and choice.

One of the benefits of this role is having one place of work for your entire shift, meaning there is no travelling between clients.

Standon is a forward-thinking and innovative local care provider, supporting people both in their own homes and in residential care. We are committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care in a safe and supportive environment, enabling the people we support to live as independently as possible while respecting their individual wishes.

The role offers a varied working pattern, so you will need to be able to work a range of shifts, with some starting as early as 7:00am and others finishing as late as 10:00pm. This may include weekends and bank holidays.

    What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who are:

Compassionate – putting the people we care for at the heart of everything you do.
Hardworking and committed – approaching your role with energy, enthusiasm and dedication.
A team player – able to work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
Trustworthy and reliable – dependable, punctual and consistent in your approach.
Flexible – willing to work a fair share of mornings, afternoons, weekends and bank holidays, as well as occasionally picking up additional hours when required.
Resilient – understanding that care work can be incredibly rewarding but can also be challenging at times.
A good communicator – confident communicating with the people we support, their families and colleagues, with good written and verbal communication skills.
Experienced in care – previous experience in a caring role is preferred, although full training and support will be provided.
    Your Responsibilities

As a Support Worker / Carer, you will help provide high-quality, person-centred support, including:

Providing compassionate care and support, ensuring the comfort, dignity and safety of the people we support.
Assisting with day-to-day living, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, cleaning and other household tasks.
Supporting with medication, in accordance with individual care plans, training and company procedures.
Maintaining accurate care records, care plans and documentation, while following health and safety requirements.
Building positive relationships with the people we support, their families and other professionals involved in their care.
Supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, including responding appropriately to behaviours and providing meaningful and engaging activities.
Encouraging independence and supporting people to make their own choices wherever possible.
Taking part in ongoing training and development, including opportunities to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.
    What We Offer

At Standon, we value our employees and are committed to helping you develop your skills and build a rewarding career in care.

    We offer:

One place of work – no travelling between clients during your shift.
Full training and support – including relevant online and face-to-face training.
Career development opportunities – including nationally recognised qualifications such as the Care Certificate and NVQ Levels 2 & 3.
    Enhanced bank holiday rates.
Bonus scheme – including an overtime bonus to reward flexibility.
Blue Light Card eligibility – giving eligible care workers access to discounts at a wide range of shops, restaurants and other services.
A rewarding career with an established local employer – join a well-respected, award-winning company with over 40 years of experience caring for people in our local communities.
Important Information: We do not currently provide sponsorship.
