Are you an experienced Kitchen Assistant, Cook, Chef or Catering Assistant looking for flexible temporary work?
We are currently looking to build a pool of reliable kitchen and catering staff to support nurseries, schools and colleges across Coventry on a temporary, ad-hoc basis.
This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking for flexible work that fits around your existing commitments, as shifts will be offered on an as-and-when-needed basis.
How the work operates
You could receive a call from us at around 6:30am–7:00am on the morning of a shift to see if you are available to work that day.
Shifts may become available due to sickness, staff shortages, holidays or other short-notice requirements, so we are looking for people who are reliable, responsive and comfortable with last-minute opportunities.
There is no requirement to commit to every shift offered — you can let us know your availability when we contact you.
The Role
Depending on the setting and your experience, duties may include:
* Preparing and serving meals for children, young people and staff
* Supporting the kitchen team with food preparation and cooking
* Following menus, recipes and portion requirements
* Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
* Washing up and keeping kitchen areas clean and organised
* Following food safety, allergen and health & safety procedures
* Working as part of a team to ensure meals are prepared and served on time
* Adapting to different school, nursery and college environments
What We Are Looking For
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in school catering, nursery catering, college catering, care catering, commercial kitchens or similar environments.
You will need:
* Right to work in the UK
* A current Enhanced DBS suitable for working with children
* Relevant cookery / catering qualifications or experience
* Appropriate food hygiene / food safety qualifications
* Relevant kitchen health & safety training
* Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
* A reliable and professional approach
* The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
* Flexibility to accept short-notice, same-day shifts
