How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    My client is a UK based, home grown company that are involved within Hydraulic engineering across over 50 countries around the world. Due to such popularity within the hydraulic industry my client is working tirelessly to ensure they provide the very best services ranging from design to supplies inclusive of service maintenance. My client is looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Engineer to join their engineering team. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the assessment, repair, maintenance and assembly of hydraulic equipment, working both in our workshop and on customer sites.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable engineer looking to develop their career within a specialist hydraulic engineering environment.

    Workshop Engineer

    Middlesbrough

    £27,500 - £29,800 per annum – Overtime, pension scheme, 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays

    Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Assess hydraulic equipment and identify repair requirements.
    Maintain and service hydraulic systems and associated equipment.
    Disassemble, inspect, report on and reassemble hydraulic equipment, including cylinders, valves, accumulators and associated components.
    Assemble new hydraulic equipment, including hydraulic manifolds and HPUs.
    Mobilise equipment and materials required for site activities.
    Produce accurate work and remedial reports.
    Prepare basic parts lists and identify appropriate components required for repairs.
    Repair equipment using a range of relevant hand tools.
    Set up testing and flushing equipment effectively and safely.
    Read and understand engineering drawings and communicate technical information clearly.
    Provide accurate component recommendations and support component repair activities.
    Record and report project activities accurately using the company ERP system.
    Undertake other reasonable duties as required.
    Qualifications & Experience:

    Full and valid UK driving licence.
    Level 3 qualification in a technical apprenticeship, or equivalent.
    Level 2 technical qualification, such as City & Guilds.
    Ideally, 3+ years' apprenticeship experience within an engineering workshop.
    Experience of working with hydraulic equipment would be highly advantageous.
    Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
    Competent use of hand tools and workshop equipment.
    Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
    Willingness to work both in a workshop environment and on customer sites.
