How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

    Location: Wakefield (WF5)

Salary: £110 – £130 per day (Depending on experience)

    Start Date: ASAP

    Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Long-term/ Day-to-day

Are you passionate about supporting children with SEN and helping them reach their full potential?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a caring and dependable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Wakefield WF5. This is an opportunity for someone who understands that progress is not always measured in grades; rather sometimes it is a pupil feeling confident enough to try something new.

As an SEN TA, you will provide practical and emotional support to pupils with additional needs. You’ll help them access learning, develop their independence and feel included in everyday school life.

Your responsibilities as an SEN teaching assistant:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with the Special Education Need.
Helping pupils understand and complete classroom activities.
Encouraging positive communication, social interaction and independence.
Supporting pupils who may experience emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties.
Following individual support strategies and guidance provided by teaching staff.
Helping create a safe and inclusive environment where pupils feel valued.
Sharing relevant observations and updates with teachers and other support staff.
Requirements for the SEN teaching assistant role:

Previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally within an SEN or education setting.
The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
A calm and understanding approach when faced with challenging behaviour or difficult situations.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new enhanced DBS check.
A genuine commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of pupils.
Dedicated support: A consultant who will remain available throughout your placement.
Local opportunities: Access to suitable roles across schools in the area.
Career guidance: Practical support to help you develop your experience within education.

    Why GSL Education?

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.

As an ethical, inclusive and independent recruitment agency, GSL Education are committed to providing quality teaching and support to staff in schools across the South Yorkshire.
