We are looking for an experienced and organised Finance Assistant to join a specialist women's refuge and support organisation based in Coventry.
This is a fantastic part-time opportunity, offering just 3 working days per week with flexibility around which days you work.
The organisation provides specialist services to women and children, including those from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and refugee communities, so cultural awareness, confidentiality and a commitment to equality and diversity are particularly important.
What You'll Be Doing
Working closely with the Finance Officer, you will support the day-to-day finance function, including:
Processing and checking expense claims and payment requests
Posting cash and income accurately
Supporting rent collection and maintaining rent records
Completing monthly bank reconciliations
Updating refuge rent sheets and bed registers
Maintaining accurate financial and accounting records
Inputting financial data for monthly management accounts
Maintaining accounting and contract files
Producing financial reports when required
Ensuring supporting financial documentation is complete and accurate
Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Finance Administrator
A relevant Accounting/Finance qualification, AAT or equivalent
Experience using Sage, QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Experience with bank reconciliations and financial record keeping
Strong numerical and administrative skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines
High levels of integrity and confidentiality
Strong cultural awareness and commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice
Ability to communicate in a relevant Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic community language
Working Pattern
This is a part-time, office-based role in Coventry, working 18.5 hours across 3 days per week.
Due to the nature of the specialist women's refuge service, female applicants are required where being female is confirmed as an Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
An Enhanced DBS will be required.
