How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

We are working with a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join their established Regional Civils team based in Warrington.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in the preconstruction phase of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with clients, designers, commercial teams and operational delivery teams to develop winning solutions that are safe, innovative, sustainable and commercially robust.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping projects from initial opportunity through to contract award.

    The Role

As Preconstruction Manager, you will be responsible for:

Leading the preconstruction process from opportunity identification through to contract award.
Managing multidisciplinary bid and preconstruction teams to deliver high-quality and compliant tender submissions.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, designers and supply chain partners.
Driving value engineering, innovation, buildability and sustainable solutions throughout the bid process.
Coordinating design development, estimating, planning, risk management and commercial input.
Managing programme milestones and ensuring all internal governance requirements are met.
Identifying and managing project risks, opportunities and key commercial considerations.
Working collaboratively with operational teams to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction into delivery.
    About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

Previous experience within preconstruction, bid management or project management in the civil engineering sector.
A strong understanding of infrastructure and civil engineering project delivery.
Experience across sectors such as highways, structures, public realm, utilities or general civil engineering.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance risk, opportunity and client expectations.
Experience managing complex tender and bid submissions.
Knowledge of NEC contracts and collaborative procurement routes.
A relevant degree or professional qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
    Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded infrastructure contractor delivering major and meaningful projects across the UK.

You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of civil engineering schemes while playing a key role in securing and shaping future projects.

The company offers an excellent benefits package, including:

    Flexible and hybrid working opportunities.
Up to 40% remote working, where the role allows.
25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.
    Enhanced family-friendly policies.

Share incentive and employee recognition schemes.
Volunteering leave and a range of additional benefits.
