How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Estimator / Senior Estimator
£50,000–£75,000 DOE + car allowance, pension & bonus
    Hybrid working | Permanent

Our client is a well-established specialist contractor working across civil engineering and structural repair, delivering complex projects on bridges, structures and major infrastructure UK-wide. They offer a varied, technically interesting workload spanning structural rehabilitation and strengthening through to elements of major new-build schemes.

They're looking to add either an Estimator or a Senior Estimator to their Acton office. Hybrid working is genuinely built into the role, easing to around 50% office-based once you're settled in.

    The role

Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications to define scope and identify key risks and opportunities
Prepare conceptual, budget and firm-price cost estimates, building up labour, plant, materials and subcontract costs
Issue enquiries, analyse subcontractor quotations, and build robust cost comparisons
Conduct site visits to understand constraints, logistics and methodology
Work closely with Operations, Technical, Commercial and HSQE teams to ensure estimates are deliverable and safe
Develop bid clarification and risk registers, and support governance and submission documentation
Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners, supporting wider business developmentWhat we're looking for

Proven estimating experience within structural repairs, civil engineering, or a related specialist construction sector
Multi-disciplinary knowledge across areas such as concrete repair, structural strengthening, and refurbishment of bridges and structures — a good range matters more than ticking every box
A degree in civil engineering or a related discipline is advantageous but not essential
Strong commercial awareness and confident stakeholder engagement across operational and technical teams
Full UK driving licence; CSCS card desirable
Good connections within the construction sectorWhat's on offer

    £50,000–£75,000 depending on experience
    Car allowance
    Pension (5% employer contribution)
    Discretionary annual bonus
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
    Hybrid working
Long-term sick pay and death-in-service coverIf you're an Estimator or Senior Estimator with a background in specialist construction, civil engineering, or structural repair — or a hands-on Project/Construction Manager looking to move into estimating — we'd like to hear from you.
