How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client is looking for an ambitious Software Developer to join their new department focused on building the technology, systems and digital products that help businesses operate smarter and grow faster.

This is a hands-on, full-stack role for someone who can develop more than websites. You will create client portals, booking systems, dashboards, business automations, bespoke web applications, integrations and AI-enabled tools, while also supporting the delivery of high-performing websites and conversion-focused landing pages where needed.

    The role

As a Software Developer, you will turn ideas, processes and business challenges into practical digital solutions. You will work with clients and the wider team to understand requirements, recommend suitable technical approaches and build reliable systems that create measurable value.

The work will be varied. You may be developing a bespoke client portal, integrating a CRM with a booking journey, creating an internal reporting dashboard, automating a repetitive process, launching a digital product or building a campaign website designed to generate leads.

    Key responsibilities

    * Build and maintain bespoke web applications, client portals, internal systems, booking platforms, dashboards and digital products.

    * Develop websites and conversion-focused landing pages as part of wider client campaigns and digital projects.

    * Deliver full-stack development across front-end interfaces, back-end functionality, databases, authentication and integrations.

    * Build integrations between websites, CRMs, marketing tools, payment systems, calendars, forms, analytics platforms and third-party software.

    * Use APIs, webhooks and automation tools to streamline business processes and reduce manual work.

    * Create intuitive digital experiences that make complex business processes easier for users.

    * Work with designers to turn wireframes, prototypes and Figma designs into polished, production-ready builds.

    * Collaborate with account managers, performance marketers and clients to scope functionality, estimate development work and recommend appropriate solutions.

    * Develop internal tools that improve reporting, client onboarding, project delivery, customer experience and operational efficiency.

    * Explore and implement AI-enabled solutions for lead management, customer service, content workflows, insight gathering and business automation.

    * Test, debug and maintain all builds to ensure they are secure, reliable, responsive, accessible and high-performing.

    * Manage deployments, updates, technical documentation and ongoing support for live systems.

    * Keep up to date with emerging development technologies, AI capabilities, automation tools and digital-product best practice.

    * Help establish development processes, code standards, documentation and quality assurance practices for The Herd Dev & Tech.

    Essential skills and experience

    * Proven experience in software development, full-stack development or modern web application development.

    * Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.

    * Experience developing front-end applications using React, Next.js or a similar modern framework.

    * Experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, PHP, .NET or equivalent.

    * Strong understanding of REST APIs, integrations, webhooks and third-party software connections.

    * Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Supabase or Firebase.

    * Experience implementing user authentication, permissions, user roles and secure data handling.

    * Strong knowledge of modern HTML, CSS, responsive development and component-based user interfaces.

    * Experience with Git and collaborative version-control workflows.

    * Experience deploying, monitoring and maintaining web applications.

    * Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to take ownership of work from brief through to launch.

    * Ability to explain technical ideas clearly to colleagues and clients without a technical background
